Use Leave Hacker in your AI assistant

Ask Claude, ChatGPT or any assistant that supports MCP which days of leave to book, and it answers with Leave Hacker's own planner: real gov.uk bank holidays, exact dates and cheap flights that fit. It's free, needs no account and works with one URL.

Bank holidays from gov.uk. Updated .

The server URL

Add this as a remote MCP server or custom connector. No sign-in or API key.

https://leavehacker.app/mcp

What you can ask

The first answer, as the planner sees it:

Easter 2027 in Scotland: book 4 days, get 9 off

Book Mon 22 to Thu 25 Mar. You're off Saturday 20 March to Sunday 28 March 2027. Good Friday comes free, with the weekends.

Set it up

Claude Code

Run this in a terminal:

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http leave-hacker https://leavehacker.app/mcp

Add --scope user to have it in every project. Check it with /mcp.

Claude (claude.ai and the Claude apps)

  1. Open Customize › Connectors.
  2. Choose + Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Leave Hacker and paste the URL: https://leavehacker.app/mcp
  4. Choose Continue, set authentication to No sign in, then Add.

Connectors you add on claude.ai also appear in the desktop and mobile apps. Free plans can add one custom connector.

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT Plugins, choose +, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Name it Leave Hacker and paste the URL: https://leavehacker.app/mcp
  3. Set authentication to none, confirm, and choose Create.
  4. In a new chat, type @ and pick Leave Hacker.

Custom MCP servers depend on your plan and, for work accounts, your workspace's settings. If you don't see the option, look for Developer mode under Settings › Apps.

Cursor

Add to Cursor

Or add it to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (every project) or .cursor/mcp.json (one project):

mcp.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "leave-hacker": {
      "url": "https://leavehacker.app/mcp"
    }
  }
}

VS Code (GitHub Copilot)

Add it to .vscode/mcp.json in your workspace:

.vscode/mcp.json
{
  "servers": {
    "leave-hacker": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://leavehacker.app/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Or from a terminal:

Terminal
code --add-mcp '{"name":"leave-hacker","type":"http","url":"https://leavehacker.app/mcp"}'

Other apps

Most MCP clients take a remote server as JSON like this. Leave Hacker speaks Streamable HTTP, with no authentication:

JSON
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "leave-hacker": {
      "type": "streamable-http",
      "url": "https://leavehacker.app/mcp"
    }
  }
}

For an app that only runs local servers, bridge it with mcp-remote:

JSON
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "leave-hacker": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "mcp-remote",
        "https://leavehacker.app/mcp"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Or paste this into your AI

For assistants that can add tools themselves, or to have yours walk you through it:

Prompt
Please set up the Leave Hacker MCP server for me, then use it to plan my annual leave.

It's a free, public, remote MCP server (Streamable HTTP) at https://leavehacker.app/mcp. It needs no sign-in or API key and only ever receives regions, dates, numbers and airport codes.

1. If you can add MCP servers or connectors yourself, add it with the name "leave-hacker" and that URL (in Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http leave-hacker https://leavehacker.app/mcp). If you can't, tell me the exact steps to add it in the app I'm using: it's a custom connector or remote MCP server with no authentication.
2. Once it's connected, ask me where I work (England and Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland or another country), how many days of annual leave I get and how many I've used, when my leave year starts, which days I work, and whether school holidays matter (children at school, or working in a school).
3. Use plan_leave_year to plan my year, and best_days_to_book for a single holiday such as Easter or Christmas. Show each break with its dates and weekdays, the days to book and the days off.
4. Offer find_trips for cheap flights that fit a break (ask for my nearest airport) and say that its links are affiliate links. Offer leave_request_message to write the message to my manager.

The tools

Leave Hacker MCP tools
ToolWhat it does
get_bank_holidaysBank holidays for England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland (gov.uk), or public holidays for another country, by year or date range.
best_days_to_bookThe days of leave to book around each bank holiday: “book 4 days, get 10 off” options with exact dates. Filter by holiday, such as Easter or Christmas.
plan_leave_yearA whole leave year planned from your allowance, days already used, leave year start, working days and school holidays.
get_school_holidaysTypical UK school holiday dates for a year, clearly labelled as typical: councils set their own.
find_tripsThe cheapest return flights from your airport that fit a break, with booking links (affiliate links: Leave Hacker may earn a commission).
leave_request_messageThe short, polite message to ask your manager for the days, in the app's own words.

There are also two prompts, plan_my_year and best_days_around, and each region's bank holidays as JSON resources. Every answer gives dates as 2027-03-26 and “Fri 26 Mar 2027”, says which region it's for and credits gov.uk.

What it sees

Questions

What is an MCP server?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI assistants use to call tools. Adding Leave Hacker's server lets your assistant use its planner instead of guessing dates.

Is it free?

Yes. There's no account, sign-in or API key. Leave Hacker may earn a commission if you book a flight through its links, at no cost to you.

Which assistants does it work with?

Any that supports remote MCP servers over Streamable HTTP, including Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT (where custom MCP servers are available), Cursor and VS Code. Apps that only run local servers can use mcp-remote.

Where do the dates come from?

UK bank holidays come from gov.uk (Open Government Licence v3.0), England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland separately. Other countries come from Nager.Date. The days to book are worked out by the same planner as the Leave Hacker app.

Is it in the MCP Registry?

It's listed as app.leavehacker/leave-hacker, verified by the leavehacker.app domain, so MCP apps and directories that read the official registry can find it.
